Referencing Karen LeCocq and Nancy Youdelman’s Lea's Room from Womanhouse (1972), this set up reflects my almost daily beauty routine. By wearing deconstructed plaid bags ("Ghana Must Go") like my traditional wrapper and gele (headwear) as if preparing for a celebration, and using part of the fabric to decorate the background, I draw a parallel between the ubiquity of the bag and the everyday beauty standards that women navigate across different cultures.
